Beta Reading

It’s free!

Because I know that’s the first piece of information you wanted to know. Yes, I can anticipate your thoughts. Yes, I am actually wearing pants. Moving on …

Beta readers are an important part of the Indie community. You can only harass your friends and family into reading your manuscript (MS) so many times. Believe me, I know. There’s a good chance that during the editing process, you’ve read your MS so many times it’s like getting a shot of lidocaine: you’re just numb to it. That’s why it helps to have another set of eyes.

What does the beta reading service offer? I’ll tell you!

  • A one- to two-page critique of the full MS
  • Analysis of characterization, pacing, and plot (what works, what doesn’t, suggestions)
  • 100% honesty without being a complete ass

What’s the catch? Of course there’s a catch. The catch is this: I’m only open to certain genres. Each genre is unique, and I’m not going to make a good beta reader for a genre I don’t read. I’m accepting the following genres:

  • Sci-fi (all levels, from dystopian to space opera)
  • Contemporary fantasy
  • Thriller/suspense
  • Mystery

If you have a cross genre or just aren’t sure where your MS falls, feel free to contact me with a synopsis.

So, you need a beta reader? Reach out! Visit the contact page or just click here.
